During the Microsoft press conference, the gaming giant reaffirmed that Xbox 360 backward compatibility will be available on the upcoming Xbox One X, and also announced that backward compatibility for original Xbox games will also be coming soon.

The lull in new backward compatible games was a bit surprising after the Xbox One feature was discussed so heavily during E3 a couple weeks ago. Sadly, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood won’t be getting the same treatment with this month’s Games with Gold. Last month, Assassin’s Creed 3 was announced as backward compatible just as the game was announced as one of June's free Games with Gold. The other titles added to the growing list of backward compatible games on Xbox One are Blazing Angels, Cyber Trooper Virtual On Oratorio Tangram, Radiant Silvergun, and Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3. Granted, those who picked up the Assassins Creed: Ezio Collection on Xbox One won’t need to make use of the Assassins Creed Brotherhood backward compatibility, but for those who were holding out, it’s nice to see the game added to the list. Of the games that were added today, Assassins Creed Brotherhood is easily the most recognizable. It’s been almost a month since the last round of backward compatible games, so gamers are excited to be getting five new backward compatible titles to fill their time. In particular, Xbox One owners can now enjoy Assassins Creed Brotherhood, since the game has been included in the list of backward compatible Xbox 360 games. While gamers anxiously await the release of Assassin’s Creed Origins later this fall, there are plenty of Assassin’s Creed titles to enjoy in the meantime.
